The Peace Strip starts from Oman, south of Oman Sea. Dr. Saleh Said Al-Shidhani, IYA SPoC of Oman will organize the StarPeace party in Muscat. Then there is Iran; StarPeace Core Team will go to Pasabandar costal village in Southeast of Iran. There they will show the beauties of the sky to the local inhabitants. In Pakistan, Khalid Marwat will hold a stargazing night for people in Karachi harbor. Umair Asim and Hassaan Ghazali will also hold a public star party in a Planetarium in Lahore city, which is near Pakistan-India border. On the other side of the border, Narendra Sagar Gor will join them from Bhuj in India. Finally, StarPeace Strip will end in New Delhi, where Manoj Pai will organize the program.
The program is scheduled for the eve of May 1, 2009, which is the night of Astronomy Day.
This event will build bridges between four countries; although these countries are separated from each other by their land and sea borders, the sky can join them. Omani, Iranian, Pakistani and Indian people will look at the sky at the same time on May the 1st, and try to show that there is no border for science. The real face of our Earth has no borders on it, just like the sky above us. We wish for a borderless Earth, just like our Sky!
