We are glad to announce that Sri Lanka Astronomical Association (AALK) which is Sri Lanka IYA National Node has joined StarPeace Project.

In Sri Lanka, general pubic as well as school students are interested in Astronomy and one may found a lot of schools with active astronomy clubs.

AALK was founded as the Ceylon Astronomical Association in 1959 with Sir Arthur C Clarke as President. Prof. Kavan Ratnatunga who is currently resident in Sri Lanka, has volunteered to be the National Node Chairman and Single Point of Contact for IYA2009 to the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

Thilina Heenatigala, the General Secretary of Sri Lanka Astronomical Association is now the StarPeace ambassador in Sri Lanka.

We wish to see StarPeace between Sri Lanka and India to show that there is no border for science.
