Saturday, January 24, 2009
We are glad to announce that Longitselatan which is an astronomy community from Indonesia and that The Society of the Sun from Pakistan has joined StarPeace Project.

Langitselatan is an astronomy communication and educator media in Indonesia. They communicate astronomy with the public through online media, star parties, telescope training, and hands-on activities. langitselatan also conducts research in astronomy and astroarcheolgy.

Astronomy media, science camp, rooftop star party, elementary school star party, birthday star party, astronomy olympiads training for north moluccas team, southern sky star party in august 2007 and Dawn of IYA 2009 are some of their astronomy activities.

Langitselatan in Indonesian language means southern sky and has been chosen as their name because they live in Bandung about 6 degree under the equator and sharing the southern sky. You know the constellations and stars in southern sky are unique and different from the constellation in northern sky.

The Society of the Sun from Pakistan is a non-profit organization helping people rediscover our star and the solar system. To this end, they have a range of programs which are introduced on their website.

Avivah Yamani, member of  langitselatan and Hassaan Ghazali, member of  Society of the Sun are now the StarPeace ambassador in Indonesia and Pakistan.

We invite StarPeace cooperator in India and Sri Lanka and active astronomy groups in neighbor countries of Pakistan and Indonesia to collaborate with The Society of the Sun and Langitselatan in programing for StarPeace project.
