Hi everyone,
We have launched TWO StarPeace events,
1) the first event is on September the 21st here in our capital city of Wellington as a public telescope viewing event: We will have two showings of the sky, a day time and an evening. We expect to have more than 500 people touched by our message if the weather is fine, maybe less if it is wet!
2) the second event is at our observatories that are in very dark sky next to Stonehenge Aotearoa. We have chosen the following day September 22nd because we have a better chance of an audience that day, because our evening event follows a day of Equinox events, and we have our own club, Phoenix Astronomical Society, and a school, the Kuranui Astronomy Club available to help.
We will ask for donations to fund our solar telescope project, to be able to share great views of the sun with our future events. We hope to have a proper solar telescope before the solar eclipse in November, It is about 80% at our latitude.
Thank you all so much for your inspiration!!!
3) I have been invited to speak to the public at an event on sunday 5th August here in Wellington, about our StarPeace project. If there is anything specific that you want me to say, please let me know. It is a remembrance day for Hiroshima, at our Peace Flame Garden. New Zealand is Nuclear Free, no nuclear power of any kind is allowed, especially no nuclear ships!! We are proud of our 30 years of Nuclear Free law.
I will print some flyers to hand out and create a poster to display our basic concepts...
